Billionaires Villar, Pacquiao still the richest senators

SENATORS Cynthia Villar and Emmanuel Pacquiao continue to hold the top ranks in the list of senators with the highest net worth, a summary of their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) released yesterday by the Senate showed.

As of Dec. 31, 2020, Villar’s net worth was listed at P3,875,696,435 with zero liability, while Pacquiao was a close second with a net worth of P3,187,092,600.69.

The boxer-turned-politician listed P3,537,166,877 in assets and said he had P350,074,276.31 in liabilities.

The two senators likewise topped the list of the Senate’s richest members last year.

In third place was Senate president pro tempore Ralph Recto with a P581,071,657.97 net worth; followed by Senate majority leader Juan Miguel Zubiri at fourth with P220,736,702.43; and Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. at fifth with P179,958,909.30 net worth.

Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara listed his net worth at P150.89 million, Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon at P106.8 million, Sen. Grace Poe at P101.3 million, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian at P91.2 million, and Senate President Vicente Sotto III at P85.6 million.

The next 10 senators were Pia Cayetano with a P84.59 million net worth, Richard Gordon with P77.56 million, Manuel “Lito” Lapid with P74.9 million, Francis Tolentino with P59.8 million, Nancy Binay with P59.7 million, Panfilo Lacson with P58.3 million, Aquilino Pimentel III with P37.2 million, Imee Marcos with P36.27 million, Ronald dela Rosa with P34.3 million, and Joel Villanueva with P33.02 million.

The “poorest” senators, according to the Senate summary, were Senators Francis Pangilinan with P23.9 million, Christopher Go with P22.27 million, Risa Hontiveros with P16.7 million, and Leila de Lima with P9.54 million.
