THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is scaling down its operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) following the decision of airport authorities to transfer all international flights to Terminal 1 in compliance with travel restrictions under the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said immigration personnel assigned at Terminals 2 and 3 will be temporarily transferred to Terminal 1.
“Starting today we are relocating our offices and operations at Terminals 2 and 3 to Terminal 1 where all flights to and from NAIA shall take place,” Morente said, adding, “This would also enable our personnel to lessen the risk of getting infected with the virus,”
The BI has 800 employees manning its counters at the three NAIA terminals.
BI Ports Operation Division chief Grifton Medina said the staff from Terminals 2 and 3 will return to their normal postings once flight operations resume when the ECQ ends on April 12.
