PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday urged Filipinos to work together and “take a stance in support of our planet” by involving themselves in crafting solutions to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change.
The President, in a video message during the observance of the 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, also directed the Climate Change Commission to effectively communicate to the public this year’s theme of “unity and cooperation for a more resilient and adaptable nation.’
Marcos said the impact of global warming and climate change has become more evident as seen in rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and a decline in biodiversity.
He said these are ‘’stark reminders of the need to quickly respond to this immediate environmental concern.’’
‘’We all have a role to play in this mission. So we must work together, take a stance in support of our planet. Let us be involved in creating solutions to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change’’ he added.
The President, at the 2023 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in the US last week, called for effective climate actions.
