MAJORITY of Filipinos continue to prefer the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio, the April 16 to 2 Pulso ng Bayan pre-electoral survey of Pulse Asia showed.

The survey, which involved 2,400 adult respondents nationwide with a margin of error of ±2 percent, showed that 56 percent of Filipinos will vote for Marcos for president if the elections were held now, unchanged from the March 2022 survey while 55 percent (statistically unchanged from 56 percent in March) will vote for Duterte-Carpio for vice president.

Except for the Visayas (47 percent), Marcos obtained majority voters’ preference across geographic areas (54 percent to 67 percent) and socio-economic classes (56 percent to 57 percent), with the highest from Mindanao (67 percent) and class ABC and E (57 percent each).

Vice President Leni Robredo remained in second behind Marcos with 23 percent (from 24 percent) followed by Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 7 percent (from 6 percent) who overtook Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who dropped to 4 points (from 8 percent).

Sen. Panfilo Lacson garnered 2 percent (unchanged) followed by former spokesman Ernesto Abella 1 percent (from 0.1 percent), Faisal Mangondato with 1 percent (unchanged), Leody de Guzman with 03 percent (from 0.2 percent), Norbert Gonzales with 0.1 percent (from 0) and Jose Montemayor with 0.1 percent (form 0.05 percent).

Except for Luzon (46 percent), Duterte-Carpio obtained majority voter preference across geographic areas (50 percent to 80 percent) and socio-economic classes (51 percent to 60 percent), with the highest from Mindanao (80 percent) and class E (60 percent).

Senate President Vicente Sotto III trailed behind Duterte-Carpio with 18 percent (down from 20 percent), followed by Sen. Francis Pangilinan with 16 percent (up from 15 percent), Dr. Willie Ong with 3 percent (down from 5 percent), Manny Lopez with 1 percent (from 0.3 percent), Lito Atienza with 0.5 percent (from 1 percent), Walden Bello with 04 percent (from 0.1 percent) Carlos Serapio with 0.3 percent (from 09.1 percent) and Rizalito David with 0.1 percent (from 0.01 percent).

Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ chief of staff and spokesman, said Marcos and Duterte-Carpio are grateful for the continued trust and support of the people but urged the people to go out and vote on May 9.

Rodriguez added they also asked the people to be vigilant and “make sure that the true and genuine will of the people shall be heard, be counted and prevail.”

“The message and call for unity have reverberated all over the land among a great majority of Filipinos who responded by continuously embracing the tandem of BBM-Sara. For all of us in the UniTeam, the most important survey is the election day itself… This election is all about our future, as Filipinos of one race and as one nation,” he said.

Pulse Asia also found that 41 percent of Filipinos already have a complete preferred senatorial slate, with the majority set to vote for broadcaster Raffy Tulfo (50.4 percent) and a near majority to vote for Antique Rep. Loren Legarda (49.4 percent) if elections were held today.
