TEN days before the day of the plebiscite, the official ballots as well as other forms and supplies to be used by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) are already on their way to the provincial capitol of Maguindanao.

In a brief statement, acting Elections spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said deployment is already underway for the forms and supplies needed for the September 17 plebiscite in Maguindanao.

A total of 818,790 official ballots were printed for the Maguindanao plebiscite.

Also completely printed as of August 24 were Plebiscite Returns, Certificate of Canvass and Proclamation, Certificate of Canvass, Statement of Votes by Precinct, and Summary of Votes.

“All items have already been verified by the Reception and Verification Committee,” noted Laudiangco.

As for the security situation in Maguindanao, he said there have been no untoward incidents so far based on the assessment of the 6th Infantry Brigade and the Police Provincial Office Maguindanao.

“We are hoping for this peaceful and orderly situation to prevail until the completion of the electoral exercise,” said Laudiangco.

On September 17, the Comelec is set to hold a plebiscite in Maguindanao to settle the question on whether the voters agree or disagree to divide it into two provinces, namely Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur.
