INTERIOR Secretary Eduardo Año has said disbursement of the financial assistance for low income families displaced by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Bataan and Laguna will kick off this week.

“We will start the distribution of the cash aid within the week and we will make sure that the aid will reach those in need and that no abuse or corruption will happen,” Año said in his report to President Duterte on Monday night.

The President has approved the grant of P1,000 per person, or a maximum of P4,000 per family, in Bataan and Laguna after they were placed under ECQ from August 8 until 22 and August 6 until 20, respectively, to control the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the two provinces.

The national government allotted P700 million for Bataan, and P2.7 billion for Laguna
In Metro Manila, Año said the national government has already distributed P3.2 billion of the P11.2 billion cash aid, or 29.31 percent of the allocation.

The amount has benefitted 3.29 million individuals.

The National Capital Region is locked down from August 6 until 20 due to the rising number of local cases of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

Local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila started distributing the cash subsidy last August 11 and were given 15 days to complete the payout.
