THE eastbound portion of Sales Road in Pasay City remained closed to vehicular traffic yesterday while authorities did repair work on the sinkhole in the area, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
MMDA chief Romando Artes said they expect the affected portion to be reopened to traffic today, Wednesday.
“They are pouring cement on the sinkhole so the area can be reopened. We expect that it will be reopened to traffic tomorrow afternoon after the curing period of the cement,” he said.
Artes said they have temporarily opened a lane in the westbound portion of Sales Road that motorists can use.
He said personnel of Maynilad removed the damaged pipe where water had been gushing out, causing the sinkhole.
He said the DPWH has also completed soil assessment and testing as part of its investigation.
Last Monday, Artes said authorities are checking if the sinkhole has affected the integrity of the foundations of the Skyway.
