THE Archdiocese of Manila is set to roll out the red carpet on June 24 to welcome Cardinal Jose Advincula as its 33rd archbishop, with guests from the government, clergy, and religious groups in attendance.

“Because of the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, there will be a series of events to welcome Cardinal Advincula,” the Manila Archdiocese Chancery said. “This will ensure that, while the different groups and sectors in the Archdiocese of Manila are given a chance to welcome the new Archbishop, health protocols are strictly observed.”

The installation of Advincula will be held at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, with ceremonies starting at 8 a.m. and a mass an hour later to be attended by other bishops of the Philippines, the clergy of the Archdiocese of Manila, the clergy from the Archdiocese of Capiz, government officials, representatives of religious men and women, the Council of the Laity of the Archdiocese of Manila, and the family and guests of Advincula.

The 69-year old Cardinal will deliver the homily, his first preaching as archbishop of Manila, during the mass.

Other events set to be held on June 25 to 27 welcoming Advincula will be broadcast on TV Maria and live streamed on the Facebook pages and Youtube channels of the Archdiocesan Office of Communications, TV Maria, Radio Veritas, Manila Cathedral, and all the parishes of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Last March 25, Pope Francis appointed Advincula as the new archbishop of Manila.
