THE Archdiocese of Cebu and its faithful are set to hold a prayer rally on Saturday, July 27, to express their strong opposition to the proposed legalization of divorce in the Philippines.
In an announcement, the Cebu archdiocese said they will hold a prayer rally starting from the Fuente Osmeña Circle towards the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu.
“The Archdiocese of Cebu, through the Commission on Family and Life, is organizing a prayer rally on July 27, Saturday, calling on Cebuanos to say ‘yes to marriage and the family, no to divorce’,” said the Cebu archdiocese.
It also directed the suspension of all Saturday afternoon masses in the Archdiocese to allow the faithful to participate in the prayer rally.
The Cebu archdiocese said images of Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin, St. Joseph, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Señor Sto. Niño are set to join the procession.
“You may opt to join the procession by following any carroza of your choice,” it said.
The procession will start at 3 p.m. but the event’s assembly at the Fuente Osmeña Circle will begin at 1 p.m., according to the Archdiocese.
A short program will be held at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño at 4 p.m., to be followed by the Holy Mass to be presided by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma at 5 p.m.
In a report by CBCP News, Palma said the event shall also showcase the strength and blessing.
