THE Judicial and Bar Council yesterday opened for applications the soon-to-be vacated post of Court of Appeals Associate Justice Mariflor Castillo and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang who will compulsorily retire later this year.
In an advisory, the JBC said Castillo will retire on September 21 while Cabotaje-Tang will end her stint in the judiciary on November 8.
The compulsory age for retirement in the judiciary is 70 years.
The JBC, the body tasked by the Constitution to screen and vet nominees and applicants to the judiciary, said the deadline for submission of applications is on July 29 at 4:30 p.m.
The JBC is headed by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo in an ex officio capacity.
