ANOTHER residential compound was put under hard lockdown in Muntinlupa City yesterday, the 11th area in the municipality to be placed on a 15-day extreme localized community quarantine (ELCQ) to control the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi approved the recommendation by the City Health Office to put the Unira Compound, Sto. Niño in Barangay Tunasan under granular lockdown starting yesterday noon until September 13 after six (6) residents tested positive of the virus.

Fresnedi said there was a need to put the area under granular lockdown since there are eight (8) senior citizens, four (4) persons with disability (PWDs), one pregnant woman and 21 children aged 5 years and below living in the compound.

Mass testing will be conducted by the CHO in the area, while the City Social Service Department will provide food packs and other basic items to affected househelps.

Fresnedi said the Muntinlupa PNP would enforce a total lockdown in the compound and will not allow any resident, even those in the list of Authorized Persons Outside of Residences (APORs), to go out.

The city government has earlier placed 10 other areas under granular lockdown. These are Dizon Compound in San Jose Village, Barangay Cupang from August 28 until September 12; Mahogany St. and Kamagong St. in Villa Carolina 2, Barangay Tunasan from August 24 to September 8; Building 2 of the BLISS complex in Barangay Putatan from August 23 to September 7; Building 17 of the Filinvest socialized housing in Barangay Alabang from August 19 to September 2; and Angelo, Horrileno, Endencia, Paredes, and Barrera streets in Katarungan Village, Barangay Poblacion from August 19 to September 2.

As of August 28, Muntinlupa City has recorded 19,424 COVID-19 cases, of which 16,497 have recovered; 2,492 are active cases, and 435 have died. There are also 52 suspected cases and 3,477 probable cases.
