ANOTHER daughter of opposition presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo has requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the spread of her alleged lewd videos online.
In a letter dated April 21, Janine Patricia “Tricia” Robredo, a physician by profession, asked the NBI for assistance through to determine possible cybercrimes committed against her.
Tricia’s letter came three days after her sister Aika requested the NBI to investigate the spread of fabricated sex videos online that claim show her, including misleading posts in some blogs and social media platforms.
Tricia told the NBI that while she is busy campaigning for her mother’s presidential bid, she had to do something to hold the perpetrators accountable so that other women will not be victimized by fake lewd videos.
“If these perpetrators are not unmasked and prosecuted before the courts, other persons might be subjected to the same vicious and criminal acts,” she said.
Tricia said she is hoping the NBI can identify the first post, the username(s) and/or account(s), the sites or links and the IP addresses and the identities of the perpetrators so they can be charged.
She also gave the NBI an initial list of links.
Tricia’s lawyer Pinky Bernabe said the mere use of her client’s name in the online posts is tantamount to gender-based online sexual harassment under Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act.
She said Section 3(e) and Section 12 of the Safe Spaces Act “contemplate unwanted sexual remarks and comments online as gender-based online sexual harassment.”
“Whether or not there is an actual video is not even relevant,” she added.
The Vice President was in Mindoro yesterday, campaigning in Lubang Island which has a voting population of less than 5,000 but where she won the vice presidency by a landslide in 2016.
She said it does not matter to her if the area is remote or small.
“Wala sa aking malayo, wala sa aking mahirap puntahan (For me, no area is far or hard to reach),” Robredo said at the “Pasandal sa Isla: People’s Coalition Rally Mindorosas 2.0.”
Robredo said in her visit to various areas in the country as vice president, she observed that people in remote areas are “thirsty” for assistance from government.
She promised to be a president for all.
“Isang klase ng pamamahala na lahat mahalaga. Isang klase ng pamamahala na hindi kayo mauuhaw na mabisita kayo ng inyong national government officials,” she said.
After the people’s rally, Robredo met with religious leaders at the Adoration Chapel, Our Lady of Assumption Parish, where she was prayed over by Church leaders. She also visited Lubang Mayor Michael Orayani at the Bahay Pamahalaan ng Lubang.
