AN Angeles city court judge has recused herself from the kidnap-slay case of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, who was killed inside the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame in 2016.
Judge Irin Zenaida Buan, who granted bail to Police Col. Rafael Dumlao, the prime suspect in the controversial case, said she inhibited herself from the case after state prosecutors asked her to recuse herself for second time. She rejected the first request made last May.
Aside from the prosecution, accused Police Chief Master Sgt. Ricky Sta. Isabel and Jerry Omlang also filed separate motions asking for Buan’s inhibition from the case.
Buan explained her decision is meant to prevent any delay in the prosecution of the case.
The prosecutors led by Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon asked for Buan to inhibit herself from the case due to her partiality to Dumlao.
