AN American wanted by US authorities for fraud was arrested last week by immigration officers in Cebu after he attempted to extend his temporary visitors’ visa using the BI’s online services.
BI Tourist Visa Section Chief Raymond Remigio said Paul David Cardwell, 57, was arrested last April 3 and is now at the agency’s detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City pending his deportation to the US.
Remigio said that Cardwell’s records prompted secondary checks after he accessed the BI’s online services last March 27.
Citing information provided by US authorities, Remigio said Cardwell is wanted for defrauding a hospital in Wyoming of $850,000 or more than P48 million.
Immigration intelligence operatives found Cardwell in Cebu while inquiring about the procedures for applying for a permanent residence visa.
