Always a Kapamilya

NORA Aunor is back before the camera as they resume the taping of her hit GMA-7 soap, “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit.” Lock in taping goes on for three weeks in a resort in San Mateo, Rizal. Ate Guy plays Mercedes and she’s with co-stars Mylene Dizon, who plays her daughter Magnolia and Kyline Alcantara, who plays her granddaughter Maggie.

“Nakakatuwang makitang muli ang mga kasama ko sa show, pati na si Direk Laurice Guillen,” said Ate Guy. “Bale pitong buwan ding natigil ang pagte-taping namin dahil sa pandemya and we’re all glad na nagkita-kita na kami uli sa pagpapatuloy ng aming taping.”

“Bilangin” is loosely based on a movie made by Ate Guy in 1989 with the same title, where she played the dual roles of Magnolia and Maggie. But the story has now been expanded for the TV series to be the story of three women from different generations and their respective struggles in life, with Ate Guy as the grandmother, Mylene as the mom and Kyline as the granddaughter.

Was Ate Guy afraid of the virus and her health as she goes back to work?

“Siempre, hindi maiiwasang mag-alala lalo’t may asthma ako, but then, magaling naman ang GMA management sa pag-aalaga nila sa kanilang mga artista at staff,” she said.

“Talagang we are all doing the necessary health protocols para masiguro ang kaligtasan naming lahat sa lock in taping.”

Also part of the drama series are Zoren Legaspi, Gabby Eigenmann and Yasser Marta as the men in their lives. Hopefully, if all would go well, they would be able to finish their lock in taping in two weeks and ardent followers of “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit” can expect the show to be back on the air by late next month.

Alden Richards has a lot to be thankful for. After winning best actor in Gawad Pasado, he now won as Phenomenal Star of Philippine Cinema (for box office) and Film Actor of the Year (for acting) at the recent Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards. He got all the honors for his blockbuster film last year, “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

“Sobrang dami ng blessings na dumarating sa akin kaya abot-abot talaga ang pasasalamat ko kay Lord at sa people behind these award-giving bodies,” said Alden. “They really help inspire me to always do my best. Salamat din sa lahat ng nakagusto ng episode naming ‘Love at the Balcony’ sa ‘I Can See You’ which rated really well. Sa mga nagtatanong naman po kung kailan ako gagawa ng movie with Bea Alonzo, I hope makarating sa mga kinauukulan ang request nyo para mabigyan kami nga ng project together kapag tapos na itong pandemya.”

One fan says he looks so inspired these days: “Halatang ganadong-ganado si Alden to give his best. Nagpapakitang gilas in performing sa ‘All Out Sundays.’ Sana, mabigyan na agad siya ng GMA ng bagong acting project after ‘I Can See You’ para hindi namin siya sobrang ma-miss sa pag-arte.”

Alden is now busy preparing for his 10th anniversary virtual concert on December 8, “Alden’s Reality.” They will be using the latest in technology to give his fans the chance to interact with him directly during the show. It will be directed by Paolo Valenciano. Tickets are priced at P999 and are now available at http://www.gmanetwork.com/synergy.

‘But my heart will always be a Kapamilya, that will never change. — Beauty Gonzales’

Beauty Gonzales said she did not have a hard time asking the permission of ABS-CBN to allow her to do the romantic drama, “I Got You,” with TV5.

“Freelancer naman ako kasi wala na akong contract sa ABS,” she said. “But still, nagpaalam ako nang maayos bilang respeto, at kahit wala pa silang bagong project for me, simply because I owe them my career.

Everyone knows sa PBB Teens ako unang nakilala 12 years ago when I was just 17, and then they gave me my break in acting. Open naman sila and pinayagan akong mag-TV5. Sige, dyan ka muna while we are readying our next project for you. Thank you to them at alam naman nilang kailangan nating mag-work ngayon. Ang tagal ko na ring nagpapahinga. But my heart will always be a Kapamilya, that will never change.”

Beauty admits that being a total newcomer from Cebu, she didn’t really know how to act when she started. She’s now happy to be directed by Dan Villegas in “I Got You,” which will run for seven Sundays.

“He’s one of our best directors now at iba ang atake niya sa show namin. Hindi siya basta drama kundi may touch din ng comedy so magiging endearing ang dating sa viewers. Lock in taping kami kaya na-miss ko ang husband and daughter ko, si Olivia.”

What’s her role in “I Got You”?

“I’m Del and very challenging ang role ko as it’s my first time to play the role of a psychiatrist. Naging pasyente ko si RK Bagatsing as Louie, a soldier na suffering from trauma from the war at ginawa ko ‘yung bawal sa isang therapist, ang ma-in love sa patient niya.”

Jennylyn Mercado is happy that her weeklong episode, “Truly. Madly. Deadly” in GMA-7’s “I Can See You” drama anthology, was well received by viewers. Now, she is seen in the continuation of her internationally-acclaimed series, “Descendants of the Sun Ph” (DOTS) whose telecast was disrupted by the pandemic.

The return of DOTS this week starts with a review of past episodes to refresh viewers with the events that happened before the pandemic intervened in our lives. This will go on for more than one week and the fresh new episodes taped on a lock in setup in Tanay will start on November 5. The show will also stream live on Netflix starting November 13.
