OPERATIVES of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) arrested a member of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf, long wanted for the crime of murder, in Tawi-Tawi last Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect, identified as Tatoh Datu Adingih, is the ninth most wanted person in Tawi-Tawi.

“He evaded arrest for the past 26 years by hiding under the name of Tatoh Moro,” SAF said in a statement.

It said Adingih was nabbed by SAF operatives, in collaboration with the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group and other police and military units, during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Simalac in Languyan town at around 2:30 p.m.

Adingih has a standing arrest warrant for murder issued by a Tawi-Tawi court.

Meanwhile, military and police personnel arrested a “notorious lawless element” during another law enforcement operation in Pagalungan town in Maguindanao del Sur, the AFP Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) reported.

Joel Manampan, alias Maula, was nabbed last Sunday in Sitio Campo Dos, Barangay Kilangan in Pagalungan by virtue of arrest warrants for double murder, gunrunning, extortion, carnapping and robbery.

Seized from him were an MK2 fragmentation grenade and components of an improvised explosive device.
