MANILA Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula has been given a second post in the Vatican, after Pope Francis appointed him as a member of the Dicastery for Bishops, an office that helps the Pontiff choose future bishops.
Advincula’s first appointment was as a member of the Congregation for the Clergy, in December 2020.
A report of CBCP News, the official news agency of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), said the latest round of Vatican appointees marked the first time women have been appointed to the Dicastery.
The three women are Sister Raffaella Petrini (secretary general of the Governorate of the Vatican City State), Sister Yvonne Reungoat (former superior general of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians), and Dr. Maria Lia Zervino (president of the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations).
Zervino is also the first laywoman appointed to the Vatican dicastery.
