PNP chief Debold Sinas yesterday said the PNP Internal Affairs Service is due to conclude this week the administrative investigation against a Paranaque City policeman who shot and killed a mother and her son in Paniqui, Tarlac last month.
“IAS, which is handling his case, promised to finish the case at the end of this week so we’ll have a resolution by Monday,” Sinas told a press briefing at the PNP national headquarters at Camp Crame, referring to Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca.
Sinas said it would be up to National Capital Region Police Office chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao to act on the recommendation that will be made by IAS.
“Because he (Nuesca) is under the jurisdiction of the NCRPO, it will be the regional director who will render the final decision, if he will abide with the recommendation of IAS,” he said.
“That is the process we are adopting so we can have a pre-charge and summary hearing against Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuesca less than 30 days (after the incident),” Sinas added.
Nuesca shot Sonia Gregorio, 55, and her son Frank Anthony, 25, in the head during a quarrel in Paniqui on December 20. Nuesca is currently detained at a Bureau of Jail Management Penology facility, facing murder charges.
Sinas also said the PNP is in the process of terminating three PNP Academy cadets who mauled a fellow cadet, Cadet 1st Class Joab Mar Nacnas, on December 31 at Camp Castañeda in Silang, Cavite, home to the PNPA.
“Surely, all evidence lead to their dismissal,” Sinas said of the three cadets who are currently detained at a police station, facing charges of physical injuries.
Sinas said he has directed the PNP director “to process their termination immediately.”
“They will be discharged for grave misconduct. The PNP is not tolerating any wrongdoing, misdeeds by our personnel, that’s why we are having this investigated and all evidence gathered leads to their termination,” he said.
