Early this year, Newport World Resorts gathered revered OPM stars Ice Seguerra, Joey G, and Noel Cabangon for their first-ever, smash hit, collaboration concert. The talented trinity of the Philippines’ acoustic circuit brings back their acoustic magic for “Strings and Voices: The Repeat” on July 20 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
The first “Strings and Voices” concert, held in February, unleashed the combined brilliance and best-loved songs of the iconic trio. From Seguerra’s sentimental hits tracks to Joey G’s soulful ballads, paired with Cabangon’s classic chart-toppers, the concert took audiences to a nostalgic trip down their individual discographies and dynamic numbers of OPM favorites. Fans who were enthralled by their solo turns and collaborations can look forward to another epic experience, as well as new surprises.
Individually, Ice Seguerra’s journey has been a string of 35 successful years, from scoring a phenomenal hit in 2001, “Pagdating ng Panahon”, to bringing new acoustic gems to the music scene. On the other hand, Joey Generoso, or simply Joey G–counted among the Philippine music scene’s first-rate singers–continues to strum an interesting musical journey after leaving his band in 2015 to pursue a solo career, form a new band, and continue making music. For the veteran musician Noel Cabangon, his voice became one of the most recognized in the OPM acoustic movement in the late 1990s, while his music continue to resonate across generations to this day.
