OPERATIVES of the National Bureau of Investigation-International Airport Investigation Division have apprehended an Abu Sayyaf member wanted for frustrated murders, kidnapping with homicide and serious illegal detention at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
The NBI-IAID yesterday announced the arrest of Mohammad Maca-Antal Said, alias Amah Maas, last August 10, intercepted at the NAIA before he could board his flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia due to an Interpol Red Notice.
NBI Director Medardo de Lemos said Said was one of the individuals charged for the gruesome killing and beheading of two Marines in Patikul, Sulu during an encounter between members of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 and Abu Sayyaf members on July 28, 2011.
Aside from the two beheaded Marines, seven other soldiers were killed while 26 were injured during the hours-long firefight.
De Lemos said the NBI-IAID also discovered that Said was also facing charges for 25 counts of frustrated murder, three separate murder cases, kidnapping with murder, kidnapping with homicide, and two counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention.
“The NBI-IAID discovered that the subject Said has an existing warrant of arrest, thus immediately placing him under arrest,” De Lemos said.
He said the NBI is checking with other law enforcement services and the courts to see if there are other cases and standing warrants of arrest issued against Said.
