It’s looking good for Rabiya Mateo.

Beauty expert Olivia Quido-Co said she believes our country’s bet for Miss Universe 2021 has a good chance of bringing home the crown.

“May something about her aura, and meron siyang charm na very relatable. You know, magaling siyang speaker, strong ‘yung story niya,” said Quido-Co. “I think those are her edge na malaki ang chance natin sa Miss Universe this year.

“I was able to interview her prior pa siya sumali sa Miss Universe, bago pa siya manalo sa Miss Universe Philippines. So now, ibang-iba na siya, na-groom na, na-train na, ang galing magsalita, ang galing mag-ayos. Ang laking improvement so I’m excited to meet her again,” she added.

If ever, Rabiya would be joining the ranks of winning Pinays: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).

Another early favorite in this year’s pageant is Amanda Obdam of Thailand, observed Quido-Co. “I think she’s umiingay sa pageant. Ang dami din nilang fans.”

Olivia Quido-Co, or Miss O as she is known in the business, knows whereof she speaks. A licensed aesthetician who is based in California, she owns and operates O Skin Med Spa and established the sought-after Olivia Quido SkinCare line.

Quido’s is one of the partners of Miss Universe 2021, which is slated for May 16 (May 17 in the Philippines) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

“I am so blessed because it is a trusted pageant. ‘Yung idea na ipagkatiwala sa ‘yo ang skin care ng 80 plus candidates is a big thing for me. Excited na ako.”

This is not the first time for Quido’s to be chosen as beauty sponsor. It has been the pick of the following organizations in the past: Miss Universe 2019, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants 2020.

“I am also proud to be a Filipino who was able to dream big and reach this far pagkatapos ng maraming failures,” said Miss O. “Tayong mga Pinoy known naman talaga sa beauty, tayo pa ang magpapaganda sa kanila.

“Imagine ang daming brands na puwedeng i-consider, ang daming gustong pumasok, tayo pa ang napili. They’re really very picky when it comes to partners.”

Located in Cerritos, California, O Med Spa maintains very strict health protocols and continues to be a favorite stopover for celebrities like Angel Locsin, KC Concepcion, Claudine Barretto and beauty queens Ruffa Gutierrez, Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray who have all experienced the “O” touch.

Before next month’s coronation, Rabiya and all eighty plus Miss Universe candidates will undergo their O beauty pampering.

In accordance with the health protocols, the Miss Universe pageant will only allow 25% live audience for the grand coronation night.
