AT least 991 policemen have been dismissed from the service since July 2022 for various offenses, including involvement in illegal drugs, the PNP reported yesterday.
Citing information from the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), PNP spokeswoman Col. Jean Fajardo also said over a thousand policemen are facing ongoing administrative cases.
“Our resolved cases from July 1, 2022 to January 10, 2024 is around 3,998. Out of the 3,998 cases, 991 were meted dismissal from the service,” said Fajardo told a press briefing at Camp Crame.
She said that of the 991 cops, 108 were involved in drug-related offenses.
“Sixty-five were dismissed after testing positive for (the use of) illegal drugs and 43 were involved in other illegal drug activities like failure to appear in court and questionable police operations,” said Fajardo.
