AFTER two days of over 10,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health reported 9,671 new infections yesterday, along with 287 more deaths.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said all laboratories submitted data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last August 6.
The number of infections in the country rose to 1,658,916 while the toll from the deadly virus climbed to 29,122, just 878 short of the grim mark of 30,000, for a case fatality rate of 1.76.
Last Friday, the DOH reported 10,623 cases and 247 deaths while there were 11,021 cases and 162 deaths last Saturday.
Active cases shot up to 77,516, the highest since April this year, with 93.2 percent mild cases, 2.8 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.7 percent severe cases, 1.2 percent moderate cases, and 1 percent critical cases.
The DOH also reported 8,079 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,552,278 COVID-19 survivors.
This means that 93.6 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
