FOR the third straight day, more than 9,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday but the figures did not include data from seven laboratories that failed to submit them on time.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH reported 9,475 new cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 721,892, counting the 9,838 reported last Friday and 9,595 last Saturday.
There are 179 COVID laboratories accredited by the DOH.
Eleven more 11 patients succumbed to the deadly virus, raising the death toll to 13,170 for a case fatality rate of 1.82 percent.
There were 22,000 more recoveries, meaning the number of survivors has risen to 603,154. The DOH said this means that 83.6 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
But active cases rose to 105,568, which account for 14.6 percent of cases in the country.
Of the active cases, 95.5 percent are mild cases, 2.5 percent are asymptomatic cases, 0.8 percent are severe cases, 0.7 percent are critical cases, and 0.43 percent are moderate cases.
No updates were received by the Department of Foreign Affairs from its 94 embassies and consulates worldwide on overseas Filipinos who have contracted or succumbed to the virus.
To date, 16,068 Filipinos in 90 countries have contracted the deadly virus, with 9,738 having and 1, 047 having succumbed.
At the House, Rep. Raneo Abu announced Saturday night that he has tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a swab test last March 25.
“The next day, the result of my swab test came out and unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID-19,” said Abu, who is in an isolation facility while remaining asymptomatic.
