NINE New People’s Army (NPA) rebels, including the group’s overall leader in Bukidnon, surrendered last week with six high-powered firearms in Valencia City in Bukidnon, the military reported yesterday.
Maj. Francisco Garello, spokesman of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division based in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental, said the nine were led by Raquel Dahoyla, 41.
Garello said Dahoyla is the secretary of the NPA’s Sub-Regional Committee 5 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee, operating in Bukidnon.

The eight other rebels were Joen Morales, 30; Daniel Layanan, 23; Mary Jean Cololot, 28; Nelbert Binungkasan, 26; Warren Balanse, 30; Walisa Tinampakan, 28; Marlon Ampoan, 21; and Rey Unabia, 25.
