NINE out of 10 netizens have expressed opposition to the membership of the Episcopal Commission on Public Affairs (ECPA) of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

In an online survey held by Caritas Philippines last month, about 90 percent of the 152 respondents chose the “angry” emoji to the question: “What is your opinion on the CBCP Public Affairs Commission’s membership in the NTF-ELCAC?”

“Ninety percent of respondents are against the CBCP Public Affairs Commission’s membership in the NTF-ELCAC,” said Caritas Philippines.

Aside from being “angry,” the advocacy arm of the CBCP noted that some of the respondents urged CBCP-ECPA to rethink its decision to join the NTF-ELCAC.

“The Church should stay true to its mandate of standing up for the poor, the hungry, the oppressed, and the vulnerable,” said Caritas Philippines.
