OPERATIVES of the Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit and the National Bureau of Investigation-Special Action Unit have arrested eight suspected West African drug syndicate members in separate operations in Las Pinas and Makati.
BI-FSU chief Rendel Ryan Sy said Yemenis Ayesh Hazem Faiz Kadaf and Ayesh Hamzah Faiz Kadaf and Mohamoud Mouhoumed Mohamed, a Djibouti, were nabbed last Friday in Las Pinas city.
Sy said Mohamed was not the subject of the operation but he was also arrested after the combined BI-NBI team caught him in possession of dangerous drugs inside the residence of the two Yemenis.
In another operation on the same day, the joint BI-NBI team arrested Sudanese Mohamed Alfaith Mohamed Saeed Osman, Eltayeb Ahmed Subahi Faris and Angolan Ciel Do Carmo Miguel Domingos, who were also found in possession of illegal drugs at their residence on Gen. Luna St., Poblacion, Makati City.
Also arrested during the Makati operation were Sri Lankan Mohamed Silmy Sahabdeen and Anara Ruslanova of Kyrgyzstan, who were also caught with illegal drugs.
The eight have also overstayed in the country, according to Sy, enough ground for the BI to detain and deport them.
Sy said the operations that led to the arrest of the suspects were based on a mission order issued by Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.
