ONLY 10 areas nationwide are under granular lockdown as of last Saturday, the PNP said yesterday amid the continuing improvement of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.
Data from the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City showed eight of these areas are in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) while two are in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Ten households, composed of 16 individuals, are affected by the lockdowns, which are located in seven barangays.
Eight policemen and 12 force multipliers or personnel from local government units are manning the lockdown.
During President Duterte’s Talk to the People on Monday last week, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported that 37 areas nationwide were under granular lockdown, a big drop from the 187 a week earlier.
Likewise, the PNP reported that some 61,604 individuals have been accosted in Metro Manila from March 1 to March 12 when the region shifted to the Alert Level 1 of quarantine.
Aside from the NCR, 38 other local government units were also downgraded to Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15.
The police said 61,549 individuals were accosted for violation of minimum public health standards (MPHS) while 55 were caught violating curfew hours.
Of the number, 47,758 were merely warned, 12,026 were fined and 1,765 were brought to police stations for filing of charges.
Nationwide, there were 240,915 individuals who were accosted during the same period – 218,199 for MPHS violation, 20,650 for curfew violation and 2,066 non-authorized persons outside residence or non-APORs.
The PNP said 207,711 of the violators nationwide were just warned, 21,848 were fined and 11,356 were brought to police stations to face charges.
