7,749 pass nursing licensure exams; Cavite grad is No. 1

AMID the prevailing nursing shortage in the Philippines, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) yesterday announced that 7,749 out of 11,116 examinees passed the May 2024 Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE) for a passing rate of 69.7 percent.

In a statement, the PRC said Abigail Escueta Cayanan of St. Jude College – Dasmariñas, Cavite Inc. topped the NLE with a 92.60 percent score.

Jim Jerico Cedric Uy from the Saint Paul University – Tuguegarao, who got a score of 91.80 percent, emerged second while tied for third with scores of 91.60 percent were Mary Vhinne Colandog from Southern Luzon State University – Lucban, and Zynarik Tabelisma from Adventist University of the Philippines.

Occupying the fourth spot was Camille Shane Nuguid from the University of Santo Tomas with a score of 91.40 percent.

Ranked fifth mirroring similar scores of 91 percent were Bea Sophia Ferrer from the University of Pangasinan, Jhanevhie Cordova Grabillo from the University of Perpetual Help Dalta System – Las Piñas, Ejay Torres Gulapa from the Bataan Peninsula State University, and Sophia Nicole Ugto from the University of Pangasinan.

The PRC said the online registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Cards (IDs) and Certificates of Registration will start on June 19 via www.prc.gov.ph.

It said successful examinees are required to personally register and sign the Roster of Registered Professionals.

They are also required to bring their downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, notice of admission (for identification only), two passport-sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of documentary stamps, and one short brown envelope.

The date and venue for the oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees will be announced at a later date.

There is an estimated 100,000 shortage of nurses in the country, according to the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA).
