AS part of its drive to cleanse the PNP of misfits, the National Police Commission has penalized 166 policemen from March up to July this year, with 75 of them dismissed from the service, two of them ranking officials.
Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer Vitaliano Aguirre II said the commission received a total of 275 administrative complaints involving 515 policemen during the same period and 166 cops were found guilty as charged.
Aside from the 75 dismissed, 48 were penalized with a one rank demotion while 43 were suspended.
He said the decision to dismiss has been forwarded to Malacanang for confirmation since they are Presidential appointees. The two officials were not identified.
The Napolcom also reprimanded four police officers, while seven were exonerated. The administrative cases filed against the remaining number of policemen were dismissed for lack of substantial evidence, lack of jurisdiction, failure to prosecute, forum shopping, or remanded to the summary hearing officer.
“We assure the public that the Napolcom fully supports the government’s effort to rid the police service of scalawags and misfits by fast-tracking the resolution of administrative cases against PNP members filed before the Commission,” Aguirre said.
