7,174 new cases; deaths up to 18,472

TWO hundred four more lost their battle against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while total infections in the country rose to 1,101,990 after 7,174 new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said all its accredited laboratories submitted data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, adding that 33 duplicates were removed from the total case count.

The DOH also said that 149 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation while the death toll rose to 18,472.

Active cases stood at 61, 294, with close to 96 percent mild and asymptomatic cases, 1.3 percent critical cases and 1.7 percent severe cases. The DOH said the positivity rate stood at 13. 9 percent out of 46,878 tests conducted.

There were 9,197 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,022, 224.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said three more overseas Filipinos tested positive for the deadly virus, bringing the total number of infections overseas among Pinoys to 18,540.

Of these, 10,465 were recorded in the Middle East and African regions, the most for any region; followed by the Asia and the Pacific with 3,704, Europe with 3, 388 and the Americas with 983.

There was one new fatality, bringing the death toll among overseas Filipinos to 1,160.

No new recovery was reported among overseas Filipinos who got infected with the virus.

The current number of overseas Filipinos who survived the virus stands at 11,349.
