SEVENTY-ONE percent of Filipinos said their families received ash aid from the government since the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, while close to a majority of those living in Metro Manila said they received financial subsidy at least twice, the September 17 to 20 Social Weather Stations (SWS) mobile survey showed.
The survey, which involved 1,249 adult respondents nationwide with a margin of error of ±3 percent, said 71 percent (barely changed from 72 percent in July) of the respondents said their families received cash subsidies at least once since the pandemic.
Of those who received cash aid, 67 percent said they received financial aid once, while 29 percent received it twice, and 2 percent and 1 percent said they received cash aid thrice and four times, respectively. Less than 1 percent or 0.21 percent said they received cash aid five times.
SWS said the average amount received by the beneficiaries was P7,531, with many of them coming from Metro Manila (82 percent), followed by the Visayas (73 percent), Luzon (70 percent), and Mindanao (64 percent).
More families in urban areas (75 percent) also received financial aid from the government than those in rural areas (67 percent).
The survey firm found that many beneficiaries from Metro Manila or 48 percent received the cash subsidy twice while majority from Mindanao (86 percent), the Visayas (71 percent) and Luzon (65 percent) received it once.
Only 39 percent from Metro Manila said they received cash subsidy from the government once while 32 percent from Luzon, 26 from the Visayas and 12 percent from Mindanao said they received the cash aid twice.
