FROM 7,302 last Sunday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases dipped to 6,426 yesterday but this figure did not include results from 10 laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 12.
In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health reported that 57 more patients lost their battle against the deadly virus, raising the death toll to 22,845 for a case fatality rate of 1.73, while the number of infections in the country rose to 1,322,053.
Active cases dipped slightly to 59,096 from 59,865 last Sunday, with 91.8 percent mild cases, 3.9 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.8 percent severe cases, 1.3 percent critical cases, and 1.2 percent moderate cases.
The number of survivors rose to 1,240,112 after 7,145 more recovered. The DO said this means that 93.8 percent of patients have recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs reported a big spike in new cases among Filipinos abroad with 174 new infections and 18 new fatalities, bringing to 20,267 the total number of Filipinos in 94 countries and territories who have contracted the deadly virus.
The death toll climbed to 1,217.
Majority of the cases and deaths were recorded in the Middle East and African regions with 11,531 and 812, respectively.
The Asia Pacific region reported 4,222 cases but only 33 deaths while Europe recorded 3,530 cases and 130 deaths. — With Ashzel Hachero
