SIX Mrs Universe Philippines Foundation (FDN) title holders are bound for Bulgaria to vie for the Mrs. Universe Pageant to be held on February 4 in the capital city of Sofia.
The six ladies, including two reservists from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, are: Veronica Yu, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN; Lady Chatterly Alvaro, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN – Northeast Asia; Virginia Evangelista, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN – Pacific Continental; Genesis Angeles, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN – North Pacific Asia; Michelle Solinap, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN – Continental Asia and Jeanie Jarina, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN – West Pacific Asia.
Yu is a reservist of the Philippine Air Force while Alvaro is with the Philippine Navy.
The ladies have been selected to represent the Philippines and other designated regions at the 3rd Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN finals held last November, organized by national director Ma. Charo Calalo who was also Mrs. Universe Philippines in 2019.
The ladies will be carrying their personal platforms in line with the international pageant’s advocacy for women empowerment and protection against violence and abuse.

The third edition of Miss FIT Philippines kicked off yesterday with the press presentation and preliminary judging of the 28 candidates at Palazzo Verde in Las Piñas.
The ladies were meticulously selected in a series of screenings held in key cities in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao and Metro Manila.
Converging at Mella Hotel in Las Piñas City, the 28 contestants underwent a series of wholistic training sessions in physical fitness under Pepper Lozada of BFit FEM and Bert Lozada Swim School, emotional fitness under Ma. Romina Gemini Brion Zabala, intelligence fitness under pageant Q&A coach JV Canta and pageant skills fitness under Kagandahang Flores founder Rodgil Flores.
The pageant, spearheaded by power couple Paul Izon Reyes of ProMedia and Jam Aquino of The Belle Salon, aims to find and create the complete queen, who is fit to reign in Philippine pageantry. F.I.T. stands for Face, Intelligence and Tone.
The finals, to be held on January 31 also at Palazzo Verde, will select the successor of outgoing Miss Fit Philippines Yllana Marie Aduana who won the Face of Binibini title at last year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
