SIX out of 10 Filipinos found the actions taken by private companies and businesses to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among their employees and customers as “adequate,” the September 17 to 20 survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.
The survey, which involved 1,249 adult Filipinos with a sampling margin of error of ±3 percent, showed that 63 percent of the respondents found the actions of the private sector adequate while 23 percent said it was “inadequate.”
SWS said majority of the respondents across different geographical locations found it “adequate,” with the highest approval coming from the Visayas and Mindanao with 64 percent each followed by those from Metro Manila and Luzon with 62 percent each.
The survey also found that 67 percent of respondents with jobs or some form of livelihood consider the actions of private businesses and companies in preventing the spread of the virus “adequate” while 58 percent of those who do not have jobs or never had a job before considered the actions of the private sector “adequate.”
The adequacy rating was highest among men with 65 percent followed by the women sector with 60 percent.
By age group, more people belonging to the 18 to 24 year old group found the private sectors’ response “adequate” (70 percent) followed by those from the 24 to 34 year old group (68 percent), 35 to 44 year old (62 percent), and 45 to 54 and 55 and above age bracket (59 percent each).
By education level, non-elementary graduates found it “adequate” (66 percent), followed by the high school graduates (64 percent), followed by elementary graduates (62 percent), and college graduates (59 percent).
