PRESIDENT Duterte has signed six measures into law establishing regular campuses or converting colleges into polytechnic or state universities in a bid to provide a better and more accessible higher education to students.
The President, last April 27, signed into law Republic Act (RA) 1151 that established the campuses of the Cebu Technological University in Liloan and Borbon in Cebu Province as the “CTU-Liloan and CTU -Borbon Campus” and RA 11752 that established a regular campus of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija to be known as the “NEUST-Sto. Domingo Campus.”
Duterte also signed RA 11753 that established a regular campus of the NEUST in Nampicuan also in Nueva Ecija which shall be known as the “NEUST-Nampicuan Campus” and RA 11754 which recognized the Cabiao Campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines In Cabiao, Nueva Ecija as a regular campus of PUP.
Also signed into law were RA 11755 that converted the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur and all its campuses in the province into a state university and integrated with it the North Luzon Philippine State College in Candon, Ilocos Sur that shall be known as the “University of Ilocos Philippines;” and RA 11756 that renamed the Adiong Memorial Polytechnic State College in Ditsaan-Ramain in Lanao Del Sur as the “Adiong Memorial State College.”
Funding needed to carry out the implementation of the six laws shall be charged to the General Appropriations Act.
The six laws will take effective 15 days after their publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
