PRESIDENT Marcos Jr has promoted six senior military officials to the next higher rank.
Among them is now Lt. Gen. Steve Crespillo who assumed the post of AFP Inspector General on November 3.
Crespillo was commander of the Zamboanga City-based AFP Western Mindanao Command which is supervising operations against terrorist groups and other internal security threats in western Mindanao.
Army Brig. Gen. Arvin Lagamon, who recently took over as AFP deputy chief of staff for civil military operations, was promoted to the rank of major general.
Army Cols. Benedict Balaba and Ramon Flores and Marine Col. Ivan Papera were promoted to the rank of brigadier general while Navy Capt. (colonel in the Army) Peter Jempsun de Guzman was promoted to the rank of Commodore.
Balaba is deputy chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP while Flores is the commandant of cadets at the Philippine Military Academy.
Papera is the chief of the AFP Systems Engineering Office while De Guzman is AFP assistant deputy chief of staff for operations.
Armed Forces chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr led the donning of rank ceremony for the six officers during rites at the AFP general headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo yesterday.
Brawner urged the six officers to uphold the AFP core values of honor, integrity, and service in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
