THE National Capital Region Police Office yesterday announced the dismissal of six Caloocan City policemen who allegedly robbed a sidewalk vendor of P14,000 last March.
NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said the dismissal of the policemen is part of the ongoing campaign to rid the police force of rogue personnel.
Dismissed were Corporals Noel Espejo Sison, Rommel Toribio, Ryan Sammy Gomez Mateo, Jake Barcenilla Rosima, Mark Christian Abarca Cabanilla, and Daryl Calija Sablay, all of the Caloocan City Police Station-Drug Enforcement Unit.
The NCRPO said the six were dismissed after being guilty of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming a police officer. It said the cops were dismissed on the recommendation by the Internal Affairs Service that looked into their administrative culpability in connection with the robbery.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, we will continue to uncover, unmask and crack the tactics and hidden irregularities of some of our personnel,” said Estomo.
“We have dealt severely with rogue cops who are engaged in drug-related crimes and other malpractices and we will keep doing so with the intent of removing them from this organization,” added Estomo.
The six reportedly robbed sidewalk vendor Eddie Acaso Yuson of P14,000 last March in Caloocan City while the victim was on his way to a fast-food chain to buy food for his family.
