SIX Chinese and their Filipino cohort were arrested and two Chinese kidnap victims were rescued in separate operations by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in Paranaque and Pasay on Monday.
PNP spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod identified the arrested suspects as Gao Tong Tong, Tian Yu, Liang Kai, Cheng Yong Qing, Zhang Bo Xu, and Wang Xuan and Filipino Edgar Ortiz.
Rescued were Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators workers Le Chen and Deng Lingyi.
Lumactod said the seven were arrested by AKG operatives led by Col. Villaflor Bannawagan at around 11:50 p.m. at QROI 199 on Roxas Blvd. in Paranaque City. Le was rescued in the same operation.
Lumactod said Le was enticed by the suspects to become a POGO worker on July 16, only to find out the firm was illegal. Le was then held against his will and forced to work by the group.
The victim sent a message to his Filipina live-in partner that the suspects were demanding P84,00 for his release, otherwise he “will be sold to another company.”
The victim’s live-in partner coordinated with the police, leading to the conduct of the rescue operation.
Lumactod said Deng was rescued in an operation earlier on Monday at Dexim 999 Company on Don Carlos St. in Pasay City. No suspect was apprehended during the operation, he said.
Lumactod said Deng was detained and forced to work at the POGO since July 10. He said Deng wanted to leave the company for reneging on its promise to give him “good salary and benefits.”
“He then reported to her boyfriend that she was not allowed to leave and was told to pay 30,000 RMD (about P210,810). Our operatives conducted the operation, leading to her rescue on July 27,” said Lumactod.
