A CIVILIAN plane crashed near the coastline of Iba, Zambales yesterday morning, injuring six civilian pilots on board.
The PNP Maritime Group Central Luzon identified the six as Captains Mel Bidayan, Robin Austria, Aldrich Sagario, James Reamon, John Michael Agdamag and Vian Cruz.
It said the ill-fated aircraft, a six-seater Aero Commander 685 with tail number RPC 5230, crashed at around 6:40 a.m. about 500 meters from the shoreline of Barangay Sto Rosario.
Police said the plane is owned by the Sentinel Logistics Enterprise Inc in Pasay City.
The victims were rescued and brought to the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital in Iba for treatment of “minor injuries.”
“According to the pilot-in-command the possible cause of the plane crash is mechanical failure,” a report from the Central Luzon regional police said, referring to Bidayan.
The plane’s wreckage is being secured by the PNP Aviation Group.
