JUST over a week before the month-long immunization drive ends, nearly seven million children have been given measles-rubella (MR) vaccines, while more than two million received oral polio vaccines (OPV).

Data released by the Department of Health (DOH) showed that as of May 22, there are already 6,750,475 kids nine to 59 months old who have been given MR shots, or 69.56 percent of the 9.5 million targeted eligible children for the vaccines.

On the other hand, the DOH said there are 2,024,747 children zero to 59 months old who were able to receive OPVs, or 62.72 percent of the over 3.2 million targeted children eligible to get OPVs.

The DOH launched the month-long mass immunization drive against measles, rubella, and polio last May 1.

And with the vaccination campaign headed to its final week, the DOH is renewing its appeal to the public to have their children vaccinated.
