5,803 new cases; 84 more patients die

EIGHTY-four more patients lost their battle against the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 5,803 new cases were reported yesterday by the Department of Health, raising the number of infections in the country to 1,359,015.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH two laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 18.

The death toll from the deadly virus rose to 23,621 for a case fatality rate of 1.74.

There were 57,679 active cases, with 91.9 percent mild cases, 3.7 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.8 percent severe cases, 1.3 percent critical cases, and 1.2 percent moderate cases.

The DOH also reported that 7,652 more have recovered, raising the number of survivors to 1,277,715.

The DOH said this means that 94 percent of COVID patients have recovered.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said seven more Filipinos overseas have contracted the deadly virus, bringing to 20,431 the number of those who have tested positive.

The DFA said 12, 096 have recovered, leaving 7, 115 still undergoing treatment.

There was no new recovery or fatality reported. The current death toll stands at 1,220. — With Ashzel Hachero
