NEW coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases dipped to 5,177 yesterday but the Department of Health clarified that this figure did not include numbers from 10 laboratories that failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 30.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 1,235,467 while the death toll climbed to 21,012 after 46 more patients lost their battle against the deadly virus for a case fatality rate of 1.70.
New cases reported last Monday stood at 6,689 while there were 7,058 new infections last Sunday.
Active cases dipped to 53,203 from 54,290 last Monday, with 93.1 percent mild cases, 2.3 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.8 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.3 percent moderate cases.
There were 6,230 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,161,252.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said 11 more overseas Filipinos have been infected with the deadly virus while 14 more died.
The 11 new cases brought to 19,765 the total count of overseas cases, with 11,249 recorded in the Middle East and Africa, followed by 4,010 in the Asia Pacific region, 3,522 in Europe and 984 in the Americas.
The Middle East and African regions also had the most number of deaths at 789, followed by 242 in the Americas, 130 in Europe and 33 in the Asia Pacific region.
The DFA also reported 16 new recoveries, bringing the total number of survivors to 12,037, while 6,534 are still under treatment. — With Ashzel Hachero
