FIVE of 27 Filipino crew members of the MV Transworld Navigator arrived in Manila yesterday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

“This is the first batch of the 27 Filipino seafarers, who are on-board the vessel that was attacked by the Houthi rebels,” said the DMW.

There was no information on when the other 22 Filipino seafarers will be repatriated.

Last week, the MV Transworld Navigator was struck by a Houthi drone attack while sailing in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.

The 27 Filipino crew members were unharmed.

On Saturday, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said efforts for the immediate repatriation of all the 27 seafarers were underway.

It said the families of the 27 crew members are also constantly updated on developments.

“We will continue to provide support to our seafarers and their families amid the situation they are currently facing,” said OWWA.
