A NEW criminal complaint has been filed with the Office of the Ombudsman against Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) undersecretary Lorraine Badoy, the fourth lodged against her in a week.
The joint complaint-affidavit was signed by labor leader and 1Sambayan senatorial candidate Elmer Labog, former Anakpawis Rep. Fernando Hicap, Kilusang Mayo Uno secretary general Ronaldo Adonis, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas chairperson Danilo Ramos, Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) chairperson Gloria Arellano, Kadamay vice chair Estrelita Bagasbas, and Anakpawis secretary general Catarina Estavillo.
The complaint cited Badoy’s March 14 post on Facebook alleging that opposition presidential bet Vice President Leni Robredo has forged an alliance with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
In the same post, Badoy said Robredo’s statement of support for a peace talks with rebel groups would only prolong the insurgency. She said all the groups allied with the Vice President are part of the CPP-NPA-NDF including party-list groups Kabataan, Anakpawis, Bayan Muna, Alliance of Concerned Teachers, and Gabriela.
“Undersecretary Badoy-Partosa’s unbridled abuse of her office and position as NTF-ELCAC (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) spokesperson …to vilify Vice President Robredo at the height of the campaign season is shocking if not scandalous,” the complainants said.
They said Badoy’s actions “clearly cause undue injury to Robredo and the progressive groups being red-tagged in her social media posts.
They also sought Badoy’s indictment for violation of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees which requires all government officials to “be accountable to the people and discharge their duties with utmost responsibility, integrity, competence, and loyalty.”
“She was dishonest and unjust in spreading baseless accusations against Vice President Robredo and the organized progressive groups that we represent,” the group added.
