4 nabbed, P170M shabu seized in QC

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Quezon City police arrested two Chinese drug traffickers and two Filipinos on Tuesday that that led to the recovery of 25 kilos of suspected shabu worth P170 million.

PDEA chief Aaron Aquino said Hongbo He, 45, a native of Hunan, China and a member of a Chinese international drug syndicate who resides in Mariveles, Bataan, was nabbed in a buy-bust operation at the parking area of the Quezon Memorial Circle complex on Tuesday night. Seized from him were 15 kilos of suspected shabu worth P102 million.

Hongbo was nabbed hours after another Chinese and his two Filipino cohorts were collared in a buy-bust operation by joint PDEA and QCPD operatives in Barangay Siena, Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon. Ten kilograms of suspected shabu worth P68 million were seized from them.

Aquino said his men led by Director Joel Plaza, PDEA National Capital Region chief, and operatives of the Quezon City Police District Station 10 collared Hongbo after the latter delivered 15 kilos of shabu to an undercover PDEA agent in front of the Quezon Heritage House.

Aside from the illegal drugs placed in 15 plastic packs, agents also seized Hongbo’s metallic gray Toyota Grandia (UGI-688) used to deliver the drugs and the buy-bust money.

Aquino said Hongbo has been under surveillance for three weeks.

Aquino identified the suspects as Liu Fu Gui, and his Filipino cohorts Keith Anthony Romo, a call center programmer; and Nonito Garlindo, a gasoline station attendant.

Reports said the combined anti-illegal drugs agents arrested the three when they delivered the drug to a poseur-buyer at the corner of Sta. Catalina St. and Sto. Domingo Ave. at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Also seized were the suspects’ red Mitsubishi Gallant (UDJ-276), a red Honda Civic (WPD 697), and the buy-bust money.

Five persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Pasig, Marikina and San Juan.

Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan, Eastern police district director, identified the five as Akmad Amis, 30; Edilane Santos, 26; Wilmar Turra, 27; Ibrahim Surrio; and Jose Santos, 29.
Seized from them were 13 sachets of suspected shabu. — Christian Oineza
