4 nabbed for transporting P1.2M marijuana in Isabela

POLICE operatives intercepted three men and a minor transporting 10 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P1.2 million in Barangay Alunan, Quezon, Isabela last Sunday.

PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspects as Jerwin Lipalam, 24; Jayson Pallares Tresmil, 24; Alvin Lampag Guiab, 20; and one alias Marco, 17.

Reports said members of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office received information that the suspects, on board a grey Toyota Vios (NDE-9548), bought dried marijuana bricks in Tabuk, Kalinga.

Operatives of the Rizal Municipal Police Station set up a checkpoint along the national highway and flagged down the vehicle. Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped towards Barangay Abbut in Quezon, Isabela.

Nearby police stations were informed of the matter and the suspects were finally cornered in a chokepoint in Barangay Alunan, Quezon, Isabela.

Aside from the 10 kilos of dried marijuana bricks, police also recovered a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number, a cellphone, the vehicle used in transporting the illegal stuff, and other personal things.
