FOUR passengers were injured when their bus was rocked by an improvised bomb explosion in Parang, Maguindanao yesterday morning.
Maj. Andrew Linao, spokesman of the AFP Western Mindanao Command, said the bomb was believed left by an unidentified man who alighted minutes before the blast.
Linao said the explosion occurred at the back portion of the Rural Tours Bus at around 6:47 a.m. in a bus terminal in Barangay Making, Parang town.
The bus, which police said was en route to Dipolog City from Gen. Santos City, was parked at the terminal for a stopover at that time.
Linao said one of the passengers alighted from the bus during the stopover. “Minutes later, the bomb exploded. Accordingly, the male suspect….is the possible suspect,” said Linao, without giving more details.
He said the Parang municipal police station is reviewing close-circuit television footages in the area “for the possible identification of the suspect.” He said investigators have also taken the statements of the bus driver, conductor, and other witnesses.
Linao said investigators are still determining the motive behind the attack.
He could not immediately say if the terrorist Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters or the Daulah Islamiyah was behind the bombing. The two groups are behind numerous bombings in Mindanao.
