LESS than three weeks before his retirement, PNP chief Camilo Cascolan has re-assigned two major generals and brigadier generals to higher positions.
Two of the officers affected were Maj. Gen. Dionardo Carlos, director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Southern Luzon; and Brig. Gen. Manuel Abu, director for DIPO-Visayas. Carlos and Abu will be swapping positions.
DIPO-Northern Luzon director Maj. Gen. Chiquito Malayo and DIPO-Western Mindanao director Brig. Gen. Ferdinand Daway are also swapping positions.
The four generals were recently assigned to their current positions by Cascolan in earlier reshuffles he ordered.
PNP spokesman Col. Ysmael Yu said the re-assignment of the four generals was part of the PNP leadership’s reorganization of the DIPOs that are overseeing operations of regional and provincial mobile forces.
Cascolan recently directed the DIPOs to craft implementing rules and regulation for the expansion of their functions in the campaign against internal security threats, including the New People’s Army.
Cascolan reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56 on November 10. He assumed command of the PNP on September 2, replacing now retired Gen. Archie Gamboa.
