MORE than 3,000 families or around 13,000 individuals are still staying in evacuation centers nationwide, close to a month since the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng,” the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said yesterday.
Data from the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) showed that 39,207 families or 193,412 persons were displaced nationwide.
This includes 3,084 families (13,235 persons) who are currently taking temporary shelter in 96 evacuation centers and 36,123 families (180,177 persons) temporarily staying with relatives or friends.
DSWD said a total of P437.88 million worth of assistance has been provided to the affected families, with P354.83 million coming from the agency, P80.655 million from Local
Government Units, P350,428 from Non-Government Organizations and P2.04 million from the private sector.
